Allegra Renamed

Allegra travelled from the south for many months, winding her way through forests and over mountains. Careful always to remain off the main roads. Finally, in winter, tired, exhausted, and nearly freezing, she stumbled onto the main road not far from tall fort walls. She knew nothing of the camp and fearfully walked towards it, only thinking that maybe she could find some warmth or food inside.

As she approached, a tall man left the fort wall and approached her, greeting her and asking a few questions. He was not terribly satisfied with her explanation, however reached in his pouch and drew out a collar and padlock, locking it about her slender neck.

He drug her inside, and renamed her Neve because of her pallid skin and light-colored hair. "I do not like the name Allegra," he said. "From now on you shall be neve."

The northern divide is very different from what many think they know about Gor. Vikings of the North are referred to as Torvies or Torvaldslanders. Vikings do not make allies, or not easily. They are not very trusting to anyone outside their close knit Clan. Clan members are either blood or by claiming (marriage, FC) or accepted outsiders made Clan members through their loyalty. They will however keep a type of alliance with other close living Clans, or those that have earned trust.

There is no traditional City type FC in viking clans, wenches are Claimed by a Lord.......this takes place by the Lord making his intention to claim a wench known to her Father, brothers or a Lord that is her protector, if she has no family. It is up to the Men of her family or protectors to accept this claiming or not. If it is not accepted, the one claiming can challenge to a battle, to the death. This usually only happens if it's a Claim made by an outsider of the Clan. 

This is another way Vikings make allies, if the daughter of the Fylkir, head of the clan, is to be claimed by a Lord of another Clan, it is considered carefully, for this claiming creates an alliance between both Clans.

Castes do NOT exist in Viking culture... The true leader of any clan is the Fylkir, or King, His wench is known as the Drottning, or Queen. We do not recognize Ubar, Ubara, High Jarl, Tatrix.......these are simply not Viking and the first two are southern titles. 

Vikings do not recognize the Priest Kings, our Gods are that of Odin, Thor and Freya....

Vikings are more seen as farmers/fishermen actually, peaceful till pushed or threatened....again though, this is sl, not going to sit around farming. So yes we raid, go to war, ally and defend and so on.

Vikings are knowns for their cruelty to captives, traders.......our forgiveness is not often and methods for torture and killing is well known as the worst to be dealt. 

There are NO magistrates in Viking culture, therefore NO trials, cross a viking clan and face your punishment and/or death.

YES our women, wenches, dress more down or revealing, but are NOT allowed to reveal breasts, nipples, ass, heat, things of this nature. They do NOT dress as the FW of the south, they wear NO veils or frilly dress. But good judgement in dress is to be applied, as in any gorean sim/city/villiage.

YES our wenches fight, with bows.......but not without the permission of the Lords of her Clan.....NO wench will ever be in a high command, to be above any Lord, ever. However there are two ranks for wenches in a viking clan......under the Drottning......Skadi and Krigmaer....

Skadi is a well trusted and proven wench of the Clan, she is directly under the Drottning, the Clan being her first priority to protect and honor. She is a Female Commander of sorts, in the absence of any Lords, she is to lead a battle to defend and ward off an attack on the Clan. She organizes the Clan and prepares for battle.

Wenches as well as bondmaids are much tougher, mouthier in the north, we have to be, but we ARE not above any Lord and can easily be punished or put to our knees. If a wench is claimed, only her Lord may put her to her knees, but any Lord in his absence can detain and punish her till He returns. 

Unclaimed Wenches, can be punished in anyway, by any Lord of the Clan.

Our slaves are not "lil one" or kajira, in the North, they are bond, bondmaid, sluts, slaves, beast.......they are NOT silk slaves, they wear kirtles/slave kilts......they carry rocks, brooms, sticks, to help defend their Clan.......they also carry small stone knives in their boots, used as a tanning tool for hides, but can, if ordered by a free of their Clan, be used to aid in defense. Though, this is not often asked of them, for if they are captured and have done so, death is their punishment for using a weapon against a free. 

Our bonds are mouthy, strong, tough, smart, and trained to fight, they are not the weaker slaves of the south, they are NOT princesses. Being of the North, where there is SNOW, our bonds stand in the winter, unless a Free oders them to their knees, this is usually a punishment. 

Thralls are male slaves, most of which stand, not kneel and are trained to fight with bows, swords, all the same as a FM. Thralls often are fierce fighting protectors of the wenches and the Clan.

Master is NOT a term used in the north, it's Jarl. Serves are much different.......all slaves strip naked when entering the longhouse (not called a tavern in the north), they are to serve from the Jarl's lap, if he so wishes of course. Serves are sexual, very sexual, leading many to use the alcoves of the longhouse to fur the slut after. 

We are much more open for Furring here, no hiding it, a Jarl will toss a slut on the table, in front of FW, and use her if He so desires.  FW ARE allowed unescorted into a longhouse in the North.

Many times, you will see a claimed wench, FW, collared and leashed by her Lord, not kneeling and not really being punished.....in the North a Lord has the right to leash his wench at his whim if it so pleases him to do so. 

FW SERVE FM. this is a fact, if there are not enough slaves or none at all, FW are to serve the FM, no exceptions, period....though their serves are not sexual and can be a bit, well rough and less graceful........they still have to do it. :)

Is hard to really rp a true viking in sl/gor. So we adhere to the bulk of SL/GOR traditions.....so we are not as different after all. We say "Tal", even our slaves do, and most of them, speak like this......."yes Jarl, I always knew of that, giggles"

Golden rule of a Viking, we are barbaric, all of us, men and women, free and slaves!
